Kathryn joined the Cambridge Breast Unit in 2005, becoming consultant radiographer in 2011. She is also currently the Director of Breast Screening for Cambridge and Huntingdon Breast Screening Programme, responsible for screening service delivery in this area. She works closely with Public Health England (PHE) and with the Cambridge & Peterborough Health Commissioners to maintain and improve screening in our area and highlight any local needs.
Kathryn is further involved with PHE as Chair of the national Clinical Professional Group for radiography advising PHE on radiographic matters pertaining to the screening programme. This includes setting national screening standards and associated guidance. She is also a member of the Breast Screening Workforce and Education Group.
Research activity has included radiographic training and workforce issues, also clinical aspects of breast imaging including elastography in the axilla and other diagnostic processes. She reviews articles for publication and has also written book chapters on breast imaging and revised a mammography text book. She lectures both nationally and internationally, teaches radiology registrars and also teaches on both undergraduate and post graduate radiography courses.
