Loz Harry is a Major Trauma Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based between the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, in Swansea and the Major Trauma Centre, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. One of only a handful of exclusively trauma plastic surgeons, most recently Loz ran the South Wales Trauma Network, as Clinical Director.
With over 20 years’ experience of limb trauma and reconstruction, Loz has an established track record of setting up Orthoplastic Services. She returned home to Wales to set up the service as part of the new network during COVID. Previously, Loz successfully achieved a full 24/7 service with free tissue transfer at the Major Trauma Centre in Brighton, whilst a consultant at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
A dedicated NHS trauma and reconstructive surgeon, Loz completed her medical degree at Cambridge; with junior training in Norwich, London and Chelmsford; higher surgical training in Scotland; and research, microsurgery and trauma fellowships in Sydney, Toronto and Oxford.
Loz completed her PhD in Soft Tissue Reconstruction in Open Tibial Fractures, under the supervision of Professor Jagdeep Nanchahal and was a member of the committee for rewriting the BOA/BAPRAS Standards for the Management of Open Fractures. Loz has published and presented in her dedicated field and now teaches nationally and internationally on many aspects of limb trauma and reconstruction.
Loz loves cold water sea swimming, supporting her husband Andy’s cycling endeavours and singing in the welsh valleys!
