Amol Tambe

Amol Tambe is a Shoulder and Elbow Consultant at the Royal Derby Hospital. He has been a consultant for 14 years. Amol completed his fellowship in upper limb surgery at the Wrightington Hospital. He has also spent time at the Massachusetts General Hospital, USA and in various centres in Europe and UK as a visiting BESS fellow. He was appointed Honorary Assistant Professor by the University of Nottingham in 2014 in recognition of his teaching and research.  

He is the surgical lead for UG medical education at Derby. Amol is passionate about teaching and training budding shoulder surgeons and AHPs, supervising post-CCT Shoulder fellows in the Derby Shoulder unit every year. He organises regular local and regional meetings and presents as faculty at national and international meetings. His areas of special interest are upper limb trauma and post trauma reconstruction, shoulder arthroplasty and joint reconstruction. He undertakes a full spectrum of arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He has published widely, including contribution to textbook chapters and review articles. More recently, he has been working with other experts to find consensus in surveillance of shoulder arthroplasty. He enjoys endurance challenges and climbing mountains.
