ASM Speakers

Ciarán McManus

Following qualification from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, in 1997, I have worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Based in Scotland since 2001 and Inverness since 2009, I have rehabilitated patients throughout all parts of the care pathway – Primary Care, Orthopaedic Inpatients, Physiotherapy rehabilitation and Trauma and Orthopaedic outpatients.

My current role is an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP), running weekly fracture clinics. Clinics are populated from virtual fracture clinic, consultant led clinics, the wards (post-operative fixation), the orthopaedic on-call team and primary care referrals. I also run monthly, fluoroscopy guided, hip joint injection clinics and co-ordinate orthopaedic referral vetting. As part of the Trauma & Orthopaedic APP team, I act as liaison between Orthopaedic, Physiotherapy and Primary Care services.

I live in Inverness city, capital of the Scottish Highlands with my wife and two children. I am a keen (moderate) golfer and enjoy cycling, trail running and rowing, both sweep and sculling.
