Ellie is the Clinical Shoulder Specialist Physiotherapist at Circle Health’s flag ship site, the Alexandra Hospital and has over 17 years clinical experience across a variety of MSK settings. She is an active BESS member having presented her individual research findings and co-taught a masterclass at previous BESS conferences. She holds an MSc with distinction in Advanced MSK Physiotherapy Practice, works closely with many leading upper limb orthopaedic consultants and has delivered educational lectures at numerous specialist conferences & for a variety of online CPD platforms. Although primarily a clinician, Ellie’s research resume includes publication of a systematic review as lead author on the role of the kinetic chain in shoulder function in The BMJ Sports and Exercise Medicine, co-authoring & participating in a 2023 International Consensus Statement Delphi study published in the Journal of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery, co-authoring a chapter in a seminal text by Lewis & Fernanadez-de-las-Penas, “The Shoulder Theory and Practice”, as well as acting as co-author and model for ShoulderDoc’s “Shoulder Rehabilitation” online ebook. Ellie - a former elite athlete representing both Great Britain and Scotland – pioneered a “Performance Screening” service at MMU Sport and continues to work closely with elite athletes and their NGBs whilst working towards her UKSCA accreditation.

An evidence informed comparison between surgical & conservative management will be made & prognostic factors for this particular patient cohort discussed. This presentation aims to prompt the audience to reflect on their own communication and offers strategies and clinical resources to empower practitioners to embody SDM & facilitate genuine patient engagement."
