Kevin Deans

Dr Kevin Deans has been Consultant Chemical Pathologist in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University of Aberdeen, since 2010. He was awarded BSc (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry, MBChB (Hons) and PhD from the University of Glasgow, the latter for his thesis on “Psychosocial and Biological Determinants of Ill Health in Relation to Deprivation.” His main clinical areas of activity are in Obesity, Parenteral Nutrition and Inherited Metabolic Disorders. He is Clinical Lead for Obesity and Service Clinical Director for Clinical Biochemistry in NHS Grampian, Co-Chair of the Local Organising Committee for the UK Congress on Obesity 2025 and Chair of the Clinical Biochemistry Panel of Examiners for the Royal College of Pathologists. He is co-author of a textbook on Clinical Biochemistry.



What’s New in Weight Management

“What’s New in Weight Management” will explore current issues and future directions for treatment of obesity. The evidence base for novel injectable weight loss treatments will be reviewed, and the roles for these medications in clinical practice will be discussed, including issues of potential relevance to people with inherited metabolic diseases.
