Alexandra Valencia

Dr Alexandra Valencia MBBS equivalent, MD, FRCR has been a consultant radiologist in Bristol since 2006.

She was Director of Avon Breast Screening from 2012-2019 and co-led the centralisation of the breast services across the city of Bristol in to the purposely designed Breast Care Centre in 2014. She was Clinical Lead of the Bristol Breast Care Centre from 2018-2020 and has been a Professional Clinical Advisor for SQAS since 2014. She is of a member of several committees including the Breast Screening Clinical Professional Group and NBIA. She is currently the MDT Lead for the Bristol Breast Care Centre and is the PI for several studies in the unit. She is interested in improving outcomes for breast cancer, Quality assurance in the NHSBSP and increasing the efficiency of breast screening. She set up the very high risk screening programme in Bristol and expanded the breast MR biopsy service at Southmead Hospital to act as a referral MR biopsy service for the South West when the Very High Risk screening service was implemented. She has lectured nationally on MRI and breast density, high risk screening, Breast MR biopsies, NACT and MRI and decreasing the recall rate for breast screening.
