CEM – role in screening assessment & potential future role in surveillance

The use of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) can lead to improvements in diagnostic accuracy by increasing sensitivity and specificity compared to standard mammography with current evidence suggesting that CEM can deliver similar diagnostic performance to breast MRI. CEM may have a role to play in the assessment of screen detected abnormalities.  The evidence for the use of CEM in the assessment clinic will be reviewed.  Questions around whether CEM has role in the surveillance of women with a previous breast cancer diagnosis will also be discussed.
