Sarah McWilliams

Sarah qualified as a doctor with a distinction from Kings College Hospital London in 1988. Sarah then completed membership of the Royal College of Physicians at St Mary‘s Hospital in 1991.  Sarah went on to train as a Radiologist completing the FRCR in 1995 at Kings College Hospital and Guys and St Thomas’.

Sarah became a Consultant Radiologist at Guys and St Thomas’ in 1999 and became the Lead Breast Radiologist introducing vacuum assisted biopsy, tomosynthesis, contrast enhanced spectral mammography and MRI guided biopsy.  Sarah has a strong interest in education becoming a member of the RCR clinical scientific committee, developing national courses in radiology and breast imaging.  Sarah also became an examiner for FRCR in 2009 and continues to examine nationally and internationally.

In 2016 Sarah became the Director of Training at the St George’s National Breast Education Centre and has run courses on topics such as interval cancers, Tomosynthesis, ultrasound, MRI and breast biopsy.  Sarah has also assisted Claire Borrelli in lecturing on multiple disciplinary courses for advanced practitioners, mammographers and breast care nurses.  Sarah‘s current interest is developing resources for delivering education remotely following the recent pandemic.
