Dr. Iris Allajbeu is a consultant radiologist, currently working as a Senior Clinical Research Associate and Honorary Consultant at the Department of Radiology, University of Cambridge, since 2020.
Her research primarily focuses on the early detection of breast cancer in women with dense breasts using additional imaging modalities such as Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS), Contrast Enhanced Mammograms (CEM), and Abbreviated MRI. She is also exploring artificial intelligence (AI) and quantitative methods to enhance diagnostic performance of these modalities and guide clinical management.
In the past years, Dr. Allajbeu has played a significant role in the BRAID (Breast Risk Assessment Imaging for Density) trial, a large UK multicentric prospective study investigating the feasibility of supplemental screening in dense breasts. She serves as the Principal Investigator for a multicentric study on improving the diagnostic performance of CEM using quantitative methods and a project evaluating the impact of AI tools on ABUS.
As a peer educator for ABUS and Densebreasts, Dr. Allajbeu also contributes as a peer reviewer for numerous scientific journals and has published several papers and book chapters on breast imaging.
