Advancing practice: The Radiographers role in symptomatic clinical assessment
As demand on symptomatic services continues to rise, innovative workforce models are increasingly important to ensure timely, high quality patient care. This presentation explores the evolving role of the Advanced Practice Breast Radiographer working within the symptomatic breast clinic and examines the opportunities and challenges associated with this role expansion which has the potential to improve service efficiency.
This presentation will discuss the progression of the radiographer’s role within clinical practice, highlighting the educational requirements and clinical competencies required to support safe and effective service delivery. It will also explore the governance as well as the legal and professional considerations associated with this extended scope of practice.
In addition, the importance of MDT collaboration will be examined, emphasising how advanced practice radiographers can compliment rather than replace existing clinical roles. This presentation aims to create discussion around the future development of advanced practice roles within the symptomatic breast services.
