Patsy has had a long radiography career in breast screening and imaging. Her roles have included clinical mammography and advanced practice, education and training, management, and research. She is now a consultant radiographer, mainly engaged in clinical work but trying to maintain some research activity and pass on research skills to newer generations of clinical radiographers.
Patsy was awarded her PhD from the University of St Andrews in 2022, after a long period of part-time study. While her own doctoral route was probably unique, radiographers can now benefit from a number of initiatives that can support them to develop clinical research careers.
From Clinical Practice to PhD: A Radiographer’s Journey
In her presentation, Patsy will share some of her lessons learned on the route to achieving a PhD, as well as highlighting research career opportunities and support mechanisms available to radiographers today.
