Richard Hales

Richard has spent over 30 years studying and working through the environmental sustainability agenda. Having secured a PhD in sustainable development and land use planning policy from Sheffield University in 2002, he has since worked within the public sector developing and delivering the sustainability content for everything from tourism to travel plans, community programmes, local land-use, climate emergency strategy, and organisational change.

The current priority is working out the practical ‘how’ behind the transition to a net-zero circular economy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). The hospital has a range of programmes and projects in play to make this happen. Richard is also active in a variety of related networks and partnerships.
