Dr Christine Powell

Christine is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician working in Durham.  She is also Designated Doctor for Children in Care.  In addition to her clinical practice, she works with The British Association of Community Child Health as the North East Representative.

Christine brings extensive expertise in caring for children and young people with complex health needs, with a special focus on transitional healthcare.  In her role as the Designated Doctor for Children in Care, Christine is dedicated to advocating for vulnerable and disadvantaged children, ensuring that their health and developmental needs are met.  She has been instrumental in initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare pathways for Children in Care, as well as those transitioning from paediatric to adult services.

By the end of the session participants will:
- To gain a better understanding of the life experiences of Children in Care
- To better understand the health needs and future health outcomes of Children in Care and how these can impact upon clinical practice.
