Internet-mediated research (IMR) is “any research involving the remote acquisition of data from or about human participants using the Internet and its associated technologies” (BPS, 2021). With online research becoming increasingly commonplace, it is important that IMR is being done ethically and effectively.
A fruitful opportunity for researchers is the use of online data as a way of understanding human behaviour. This may include data such as social media posts and smartphone traces. This webinar is designed for researchers who may be starting out or interested in making use of online data for research purposes. This includes ethical and practical considerations relating to different types of online or digital data and extraction methods.
