Title
What can we learn from the actions and research invested in the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, to help us take action on the climate crisis?
Abstract
This introductory session for the symposium identifies key themes in the psychological research into COVID-19, with particular attention to research that makes links between handling the crisis of this pandemic and the handling of the climate crisis. In 2020, more than 550 papers were published in psychological journals or reports – about behaviour change, handling the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other topics from our perspective as psychologists. In this same period, just 100 papers were published in psychological journals or reports – about psychological issues related to the climate crisis. Research into these two crises can offer insights into where to go next – as will be shown by the three presenters in the symposium.
