Denise Eygendaal

Prof. Dr. Denise Eygendaal received her training at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Harvard Medical School, the University of Melbourne, and Aarhus University. In 2000, she obtained her PhD from Leiden University with a dissertation on medial instability of the elbow. With over twenty years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon, she has been a Professor of Elbow-Related Disorders at the University of Amsterdam since 2016. Currently, she is based at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, where she serves as Professor of Orthopedics and Head of the Department of Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, and Physiotherapy. 

Prof. Eygendaal specializes in disorders of the upper limb, with a particular focus on the elbow. Her clinical work and research are dedicated to the prevention and treatment of elbow conditions. She collaborates closely with orthopedic surgeons, plastic surgeons, trauma surgeons, physiotherapists, sports physicians, rehabilitation specialists, and radiologists from around the world. 

She has successfully supervised more than twenty PhD candidates and is currently supervising fifteen doctoral students. Her scientific work includes over 300 peer-reviewed publications and contributions to more than fifteen textbooks on elbow surgery. She has authored four books on elbow disorders herself and has been involved in the organization or participation of over 200 international conferences focused on the elbow.

In her free time, Prof. Eygendaal enjoys sports and spending time outdoors in nature.
