Dr. Max Ekdahl is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. He obtained his M.D. with highest distinction from Universidad de los Andes, Chile, and completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Hospital del Trabajador de Santiago, also with highest distinction. He pursued advanced training through a Research Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, PA and a Shoulder and Elbow Visiting Fellowship at Tulane University under Dr. Felix Savoie.
Dr. Ekdahl is currently Residency Program Director in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Universidad de los Andes, Santiago, Chile. He is an active member of Chilean Orthopedic Society, corresponding member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), and the Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Knee and Sports Traumatology (SLARD). He also served as Past President of the Chilean Society of Sports Medicine and is a Founder member of the Global Elbow Network. His academic contributions include more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications in journals such as The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, JSES, and KSSTA, focusing on biomechanics, ligament reconstruction, fracture management, and shoulder instability.
Dr. Ekdahl is staff surgeon at ClĂnica Universidad de los Andes and has extensive experience in sports medicine and complex upper extremity trauma.
