Pieter Caekebeke

Prof. Pieter Caekebeke, MD, PhD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in elbow surgery at Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg in Genk, Belgium, and Visiting Professor at Hasselt University. He graduated cum laude in Medicine from KU Leuven, began his orthopedic training at the University of Antwerp, and completed advanced fellowships at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and under Prof. van Riet at AZ Monica in Antwerp, focusing on elbow surgery.

In 2022, he obtained his PhD from Hasselt University on distal biceps tendon pathology. His clinical expertise includes arthroscopy, arthroplasty, trauma reconstruction, and tendon surgery.

Prof. Caekebeke has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to several book chapters. His research has been presented at leading international meetings, and in 2022 he received the Norbert Gschwend Prize at the SECEC Congress in Dublin for his work on distal biceps tendon pathology.

He is a board member of the Belgian Shoulder and Elbow Society, serves on a SECEC committee, and is a committee member of the Global Elbow Network.
