Liz Lord

ALL Portsmouth Primary Hub
Solent Language Network, Primary Languages Lead

Liz is an enthusiastic and passionate linguist, who believes strongly that everyone can benefit from learning about other languages and cultures, as should language skills and knowledge, and heritage and cultural diversity be recognised and celebrated.

As a qualified and experienced languages teacher and curriculum lead, Liz has been fortunate to be able to develop her languages classroom practice from nursery through to university level, whilst also enjoying the different roles of primary languages consultant, LA Advisor/Inspector, teacher trainer and mentor, and course developer and leader for an undergraduate pathway into teaching.

For several years, Liz has been the organiser of the Association for Language Learning’s Primary Hub in Portsmouth, is currently the Lead for Primary Languages and KS2-KS3 Transition with the DfE-funded Solent Language Network, and she writes regular languages updates for colleagues across the Solent region.

Liz is proud to be a founding member of the grass-roots initiative, Portsmouth, City of Languages, working with colleagues from across different education sectors and organisations to bring together under a unifying banner the languages taught and spoken in the city’s classrooms and different communities. She also attends the meetings of the wider national Cities of Languages movement.
