Dr Catherine Harper-Wynne completed her medical oncology training at The Royal Marsden Hospital, has worked at the Kent Oncology Centre since 2004 She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Universities of Kent and Kent and Medway Medical School, supporting post-graduate students involved in basic research into triple negative breast cancer and novel methods of evaluating the axilla. Her other research interests include exercise physiology and breast cancer and and bone health in breast cancer. She is co-chair of the NCRI breast cancer exercise and lifestyle research group and she currently has a project with the School Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Kent investigating prescribed exercise in advanced breast cancer patients.
She continues other clinical research locally and nationally as Principal and Chief Investigator (CI) of many breast cancer trials such as CI for PALOMA2 involving the CDK4/6 inhibitor palbociclib and new oral elective eostrogen receptor degrader trials (SERDs). She was breast cancer lead on the NHSE clinical advisory group until recently and is chair of the Best Practice Pathway group for breast cancer. She is co-chair of the UK Breast Cancer Group and has published widely including on covid-related issues through her involvement with the National Cancer Policy Covid Group. This group was involved in developing, testing and vaccination protocols for patients during the pandemic.
