  • A - Built Projects (on the Island of Ireland) 
    • Hardworks
      • Public Park - both urban and rural settings apply
      • Public / Civic Spaces - squares, piazzas (may be split into separate categories based on size depending on the number of entries – see rules) 1  
      • Linear Landscapes - including streetscapes, pedestrian precincts, road/rail/river corridors, arterials routes etc 
      • Residential Development - public/private housing developments
      • Gardens - all sizes, residential only
      • Institutional Landscape - schools, hospitals, colleges etc
      • Heritage Landscape - conservation, preservation and restoration projects
      • Playspace - of any size that demonstrates excellence in design
    • Softworks
      • Planting Design - excellence in the use of planting, may be of any scale
  • B - Landscape Technical and Theory
    • Landscape Theory, Policy & Management - concepts, reports, imagery 2
    • Landscape Planning
    • Research Project and Publications 2
    • Policies and Initiatives which support Climate Resilience
  • C - Academic (No entry fee required)
    • Diane Nickels Memorial Award - hand drawing 3
    • Student Award - best final year thesis project completed in 2021 or 2022 3 & 4
  • D - Other (No entry fee required)
    • Award for Outstanding Contribution to Landscape Architecture - an ILI Council nomination in recognition of the contribution for an individual, group or body that has contributed to the profession and reached the highest standard of achievement over a prolonged period 4
    • President's Award - selected by the President for the overall winner of the ILI Awards 2022 4
    • People's Choice - chosen by the public after the Awards event 4

          • 1 - Categories may be split into separate categories based on size depending on the number of entries 
          • 2 - Entries in these categories should be in the form of an abstract with a link to the body of work
          • 3 - Open to current students and recent graduates (within 4 years) 
          • 4 - These awards are chosen by UCD / ILI Council / ILI President / General Public
