   Annual Conference

The British Psychosocial Oncology Society (BPOS) was established in 1983 to advance psychosocial oncology research, education, and clinical practice. The first BPOS Conference was held in 1984. We are delighted to invite you to join us for the 2025 Annual Conference which will be held in Manchester on the 27 - 28 March 2025.

Our 2025 Annual Conference will be sightly delayed celebration of the 40th Anniversary of BPOS; but, more than just reflecting on the last 40 years, we want to use the conference to look forward, thinking about what the next 40 years might bring.

The Executive Committee are busy planning an exciting programme of speakers, but the real success of the conference will be reliant on our members coming along to present new research and clinical practice insights. Please do consider submitting an abstract to share your work with us.

We will be releasing more information over the coming weeks, but some of the other things that you can look forward to at the conference are:

    • Discussion panels with leaders in our field on what the future of psychosocial oncology needs to look like;
    • A networking dinner on the Thursday evening to socialise with colleagues and reconnect with other BPOS members;
    • The BPOS Annual General Meeting, which will be held as part of the conference; and,
    • If you’re a PhD student, a dedicated social event and opportunities to gain mentorship from senior psychosocial oncologists.

In the last members survey, you told us that one of the most important aspects of being a BPOS member was the opportunity to network with colleagues. You also asked us to think about planning some activities where you might form new research collaborations now that the NCRI has disbanded. We’ve listened to this feedback and are excited to announce that we are also planning a pre-conference research-focussed event on the afternoon Wednesday 26 March to launch our new Special Interest Groups to support this kind of activity. It’s a new initiative for BPOS, so please do consider joining the conference early to get involved.

On behalf of all of the BPOS Executive Committee, I would like to thank you for your membership and interest in our conference. I very much look forward to seeing you in Manchester in the Spring.

Prof Nick Hulbert-Williams
BPOS Chair
