Travelling by Car or Park & Ride
Visitors are encouraged to park at the South Winchester Park and Ride or the city centre public car parks, which are a short walk away from the campus. Visitor parking on campus is limited and is by advance booking only.

South Winchester Park and Ride is accessible from Junction 11 of the M3. There are Park and Ride bus stops along Romsey Road close to both the West Downs and King Alfred Quarters. The map shows the location of Park and Ride sites and stops and city centre public car parks.

Visitors travelling by car to park on campus should approach via Romsey Road. The West Downs Quarter is located on Romsey Road. To reach the King Alfred Quarter, turn from Romsey Road into St James’ Lane, and after a sharp corner turn right into Sparkford Road. The King Alfred Quarter is halfway down the hill on the right hand side. From the M3, we recommend you exit at junction 11 and follow signs to the Hospital and University.

Arriving by Train
The King Alfred Quarter is less than one mile (approximately 15minutes walk) from the railway station. Leave the railway station by the main exit and turn right into Station Road, walking on the path parallel to the train tracks. Turn right over the bridge and left onto Clifton Terrace.

To reach the West Downs Quarter, walk along Clifton Terrace before turning right and walking up Romsey Road – the entrance to the West Downs Quarter is on your right at the top of the hill.

Arriving by Bus
Bus and coach routes stop at King Alfred’s Statue in central Winchester, and the walk to King Alfred Quarter takes approximately 20 minutes. Proceed along The Broadway and up the pedestrianised High Street, before turning left at Southgate Street. Continue down Southgate Street and take the third right onto St James’ Lane. Proceed up the hill and just after the railway bridge go through the gates of West Hill Cemetery and take the footpath through the middle of the cemetery. The King Alfred Quarter is situated opposite the far gate of the cemetery.

There is a taxi rank directly outside the station. Taxis to the University cost approximately £5.00
