Professor Martin Milton

Martin Milton is Professor of Counselling Psychology, Regents University London. He is a chartered psychologist, Fellow of the BPS and was one of the recipients of the 2012 British Psychological Society Award for the Promoting of Equality of Opportunity. Martin has long been interested in the relationship between people, the natural world and psychological practices that consider this. 

Martin was editor of the (2008) Special Issue of Counselling Psychology Review, (23.2) which looked at a variety of different issues related to the human/nature relationship. In addition, Martin is author of ‘Psychological practice in a time of environmental crisis’ in the 4th edition of the Handbook of Counselling Psychology, ‘Coming home to roost’ in Therapy and Beyond and The personal is political. He previously served on the editorial Board of the journal Ecopsychology and or the European Journal of Ecopsychology.

Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams

Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams is a clinical psychologist and chartered member of the British Psychological Society. He is also the co-director of Climate Psychologists, an independent organisation providing individual therapeutic support and wider consultation regarding the mental health implications of climate change. Central to Patrick’s recent work is climate change communication. He has worked with parents, educators, national government and media organisations to promote psychologically-informed, constructive communication, to inspire hope and action in combatting climate change.



Maya Gimalova

Maya Gimalova first and foremost is a citizen of the world who cares about the Planet and troubled by the climate change issue. She is a third-year doctoral student of Counselling Psychology at Regent’s University London. Her research interests lie in better understanding the multifaceted impacts of climate change on the younger generation. She is currently conducting a qualitative study on how young climate activists experience continual exposure to climate change information in today's world. 

Maya is striving to combine her passion with Counselling Psychology values in order to increase the contribution psychologists might make to mitigate the climate emergency. In this regard Maya has contributed to the DCoP Working Group on Climate Change, assisting with the survey of counselling psychologists and the DCoP Reference Library . 



Dr Alison Greenwood

Dr Alison Greenwood is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Director of Dose of Nature. She has worked with diverse clinical groups across a wide variety of therapeutic settings: in charities, in schools, and within the NHS, in both primary and secondary care. Alison’s doctoral research focused on the mental health benefits of engagement with natural environments, and she has been incorporating ecotherapy practices in her work with clients for many years. Her broad experience, working with young people and vulnerable groups such as the homeless, older adults and victims of trauma, has led her to the firm conviction that a greater connection to nature can improve the mental wellbeing of us all.
