Registration for the pre-conference workshops have now closed.
Workshop 1: Creating pressure in training for athletes
To prepare athletes for psychological pressure of competition, pressure training (PT) systematically applies pressure on athletes while they practice sport-specific skills. Based on current research, this workshop focuses on methods for pressure training, and introduces an applied framework that can help practitioners consider the key phases involved when designing and implementing PT. The workshop presenters will also share some recent experiences of implementing PT and lessons learned.

Workshop 2: Think Aloud method
The Think Aloud method is a verbal reporting method that involves asking participants to continuously verbalize their thought during the performance of a task. The process of 'thinking aloud' was originally termed by Ericsson and Simon (1980). More recently within the sport psychology literature, Think Aloud has been used to understand a variety of different phenomena such as (but not limited to), expertise differences (e.g. Whitehead et al., 2016), stress and coping and gender differences (e.g. Swettenham et al., 2018), pacing in endurance sport (e.g. Whitehead et al., 2020), and gymnastics judging decision making (e.g. Lee et al., 2019). This workshop will provide participants with a detailed insight into the Think Aloud method and how it has been used within sport psychology literature. Participants will also get the opportunity to try the method out for themselves and consider the various ways in which the data provided can be analyzed and presented.
The workshop is aimed at any student or researcher who wishes to learn more about the Think Aloud method.
