Call for Contributions has now Closed

Language World is the annual conference and CPD event of the Association for Language Learning. It is a highlight of the year for languages education and attracts hundreds of participants a day from across all educational sectors, with a large number coming from primary and secondary schools.

The theme of Language World 2024 is Languages - a unique ingredient of learning.

Contributions

We invite teachers, teacher educators, and researchers to join us in sharing ideas and best practice. Whatever your teaching experience, please do consider submitting a proposal. Submissions are welcome from educators who are starting out on their career to those with many years of experience.    We are keen to include examples of successful, innovative practice.

Focus for the workshops and oral presentations

We were specifically interested in submissions for workshops and presentations which focus on the following areas with precedence being given to new and topical submissions:

  • The unique elements of language teaching across the curriculum
  • Innovative online learning 
  • Increasing uptake in all sectors
  • Involving parents in the learning journey
  • Collaborative approaches between schools KS2 and KS3
  • Collaborative approaches between universities and schools
  • Recent research on the brain and language learning
  • Promoting trips and educational visits, international links and intercultural understanding
  • Celebrating multilingualism in schools through support of home community and heritage languages
  • Effective EAL provision in primary and secondary language lessons
  • Effective, inclusive and motivating language teaching, taking account of the new GCSEs

            Contribution Guidelines 

Presentation Formats

  • Parallel Workshops & Oral Presentations - Allocated 45 minutes in the programme, we suggest a 30 minute presentation and 15 minutes for Q&A / delegate interaction
  • Short Oral Presentation - 15 minute presentation to include Q&A. Three similar topic presentations will be delivered in the same 45 minute session

Speaker Bookings and Attendance

Once the review process is complete all accepted speakers will need to book to attend the conference. We are able to offer the following reduced rates for one speaker for each accepted presentation:

  • Speaking day attendance only; £66 (inc vat)
  • Two days Conference attendance £150 (inc vat)

Please note: both registration types exclude accommodation and dinner.

Please note we have no intention, at this time, to offer virtual presentations, the event will take place in person at the Chesford Grange, Kenilworth.

Additional speakers are expected to register and pay as Language World delegates at the relevant delegate attendance rate. Unfortunately our funds do not permit us to cover any expenses for speakers.
