Bio
Professor Nichola Rooney is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with 30 years clinical practice in the NHS, specialising in trauma and bereavement with children, young people and families.
She is former Head of Psychological Services at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, and Royal Group of Hospitals, delivering psychological services across the lifespan in physical and mental health specialisms.
Currently Nichola is Honorary Professor at the School of Psychology, QUB and is Chair of the British Psychological Society Division of Clinical Psychology NI.
She is also Senior Professional Advisor to the RQIA, Non Executive Director of the Public Health Agency and Associate Consultant with the HSC Leadership Centre.
As a member of the BPS UK Covid Response Taskforce, Nichola chaired the Care of Bereaved Relatives Workstream.
Within Northern Ireland Nichola led the DoH Covid -19 Bereavement Response and the Psychological Care of Patients Hospitalised with Covid -19.
She is currently a member of the a member of the Mental Health Strategic Reform Board, the Regional Workforce Wellbeing Steering Committee, and the Regional Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing Strategic Working Group.
