Detective Inspector, Metropolitan Police

Esther Richardson

I have been a serving member of the Metropolitan Police Service for 27years. For the last three years I have worked on the MPS Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation, Vulnerability Command. I lead one of the five Investigation teams dealing with Serious and Organised Crime as the Senior Investigating Officer. We run both proactive and reactive investigations and target those who seek to exploit the vulnerable, working in close partnership with other agencies in the UK and abroad. During my service I have worked across the Metropolitan Police on the Homicide Command as well as spending many years within Covert Policing. Prior to this in 2004 I spent an number of years on  Operation Trident investigation firearms and drugs related crime within South London Communities. I started my career working at Kensington, Chelsea and Notting Hill before becoming a detective and working in Wandsworth.  I am very proud to be part of dedicated and professional team on Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation to tackle our challenges, improve ways of working and deliver an even better service to London and beyond.
