Rachel Schleicher is currently the service manager for the Making a Change & Youth Justice Services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Rachel has worked for East Riding Council for 9 years in various roles including Early Help. Previous work history includes Greater Manchester Local Authority work, as well as the National charity Action for Children.
As well as leading Exploitation & Missing services in the East Riding, Rachel is also responsible for Youth Justice and sits on the Youth Justice Service sector improvement partnership (YJSIP) Rachel is passionate about language and terminology and ensuring that families and children are at the core of everything services do.
Title: Making a Change – Adapting practice to meet the needs of families
In this session Rachel will give an overview of the Making a Change service, its creation, and the impact this has had on Exploitation & Missing. The Making a Change Service sits under the Targeted Intensive portfolio and has been operational since July 2021. The multi-agency service supports and reduces risks for those children at the highest risk of exploitation as well as those missing form home. The service offers a seven day a week wrap around service with practitioners working on a rota with support available until 8pm in an evening and over a weekend. As well as sharing an overview of the service Rachel will share the journey of the service and how data is used to evidence impact and outcomes.
