Dr. Rachel Mycroft
Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Rachel Mycroft is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Chair of the British Psychological Society Faculty of Perinatal Psychology.

She is joint service lead for Perinatal Psychology in Birmingham and Solihull NHS Foundation Trust across the Mother and Baby Unit and Community Perinatal Mental Health Services. She is also Perinatal Psychology Lead in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

She has extensive experience of perinatal mental health and perinatal psychological therapies, with particular expertise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as applied in the perinatal period and special interests in tokophobia and birth trauma. She regularly delivers supervision, teaching and training across a range of settings and helped to establish the national Perinatal Clinical Psychology Training programme.


Dr. Cerith Waters
Lead Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Cerith Waters is the lead clinical psychologist for perinatal mental health services in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology at Cardiff University.

Cerith completed his undergraduate dissertation in 2003 with Dr Susan Pawlby at the Channi Kumar Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) in South London. Cerith was studying mother-infant interaction in the context of severe mental illness and it was during this time that he became hooked on the ideas of Colwyn Trevarthen and the perinatal mental health speciality.

Cerith went on to complete his PhD on two longitudinal studies of child development (The South London Child Development Study and the Cardiff Child Development Study), studying the impact of perinatal depression on children’s cognitive, behavioural and emotional development in the context of young motherhood.

In 2008 Cerith began training in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist and since qualifying has focused on developing psychological interventions and clinical services for families identified as at risk during the perinatal period and early years.

Dr. Joanne Peterkin
Principal Clinical Psychologist

Joanne Peterkin is the Principal Clinical Psychologist for the Perinatal Mental Health Team in Cambridgeshire and has been working to embed psychological practice within the service and wider pathways since its launch 2 years ago. Jo has a long-standing interest in parent-infant mental health and provides regular supervision, teaching and training in this area.

Jo is a Video Interaction Guidance Supervisor having started her VIG training in 2013. Prior to this post, Jo worked for 6 years in Children’s Social Care, working with children Looked After and adopted, and their families. Jo draws on a range of therapeutic models including CBT, systemic family therapy, EMDR, VIG, CFT and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

Jo is a board member for the British Psychological Society Faculty of Perinatal Psychology. Jo also runs an independent practice locally providing therapy, parenting workshops, training, and supervision.


Dr. Naomi Fisher
Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Naomi Fisher is a clinical psychologist who works with adults and children. Her experience includes working in NHS specialist trauma services, IAPT, neurodevelopmental teams and with frontline police officers.

She has been using EMDR since 2005, started using EMDR online in 2018 and currently works exclusively online in private practice.

Dr. Ellen Auty
Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Ellen Auty is Consultant Clinical Psychologist working with Essex Perinatal Mental Health Service, she also holds the role of Clinical Lead for Essex Parent Infant Mental Health Service. Ellen has worked in Child development, Perinatal and Parent Infant Mental Health as well as Adult Mental Health. In her perinatal work her main clinical interest is working with complex trauma and using DBT and CBT for Trauma approaches. She has run DBT programs and has a passion in supporting parents with complex need. Her parent infant work draws upon relational trauma theory working with the parent and infant using attachment informed approaches.


Dr. Ellen Craig
Principle Clinical Psychologist

Dr Ellen Craig currently holds the position of Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Hertfordshire Community Perinatal Team – a specialist, secondary-care multi-disciplinary team, where she has been since its inception four years ago. Ellen’s main theoretical background is in CBT, but she also regularly uses EMDR and DBT-informed approaches, as well as parent-infant interventions in her clinical work. Prior to working in the Hertfordshire Community Perinatal team, Ellen worked as the perinatal lead clinician in the Hackney IAPT team for several years, developing a small group of clinicians with a specialist interest in perinatal work.

Dr. Jessica Williams
Clinical Psychologist

Dr Jessica Williams is a Clinical Psychologist working in the Cardiff and Vale Perinatal Mental Service. She has a special interest in working with children and families in the early years and is currently training in Video Interaction Guidance.
