Anna Weiss is the Pluta Professor of Breast Care at Wilmot Cancer Institute, University of Rochester Medical Center. She is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Medicine, Director of the Breast Cancer Service Line and Comprehensive Breast Program, and Breast Surgery Lead. She also serves in a national role with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. She trained in General Surgery at UC San Diego, followed by Breast Surgery at University of Texas, MD Anderson. She started her career at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She has 150 publications and her areas of specific interest are breast and axillary surgery after neoadjuvant therapy, and prevention strategies for patients at an elevated risk of breast cancer. She is heavily involved in American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and has leadership roles in the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Dr Anna Weiss will explore the ongoing and future clinical trials examining the omission of surgery. She will delve into observation for patients with DCIS, omission of surgery for exceptional responders, and the current data supporting the omission of axillary surgery.
