Ankita Sehrawat

I am a third-year PhD student in Psychology at the University of Sheffield. My research focuses on the impact of Weight Stigma on Engagement on Physical Health Behaviours, examining how experiences of weight-based discrimination and internalised stigma influence  patterns of behaviour related to exercise, eating, medical screening, substance use and other health-related behaviours.

I use both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the psychological and social mechanisms linking stigma to health. I am particularly interested in designing interventions that encourage compassionate, inclusive approaches to physical activity and health promotion, challenging traditional weight-centric models that can contribute to stigma and disengagement.

I am also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and have experience teaching and supporting undergraduate and master’s students in psychology. I am committed to fostering inclusive and reflective learning environments and helping students connect psychological theory with practical applications.
