Bio
Dr Amy Orben is Research Fellow at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, and Visiting Fellow at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge. Her research uses big data to investigate the impact of digital technology use on mental health and well-being. Her contributions to psychological and cognitive science have won her the British Psychological Society’s 2019 Award for Outstanding Doctoral Contributions to Research, the Understanding Society Young Researcher Prize and the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science Mission Award 2020.
Dr Orben has recently given oral evidence to the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee and her research has informed advice given by the UK Chief Medical Officers and the House of Commons on digital technology use in childhood and adolescence. She sits on the ESRC New and Emerging Forms of Data Leadership Group, where she consults on major UK research data infrastructure projects and has recently joined the British Academy Public Policy Committee.
