09:35 | 10:20 | ARFID and Autism: Considerations for Optimal Care Dr. Rachel Bryant-Waugh Consultant Clinical Psychologist ARFID Service Clinic Lead Rachel's talk will focus on autistic children and young people presenting with eating difficulties that meet diagnostic threshold for avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). The primary aim is to facilitate improved knowledge and awareness of identified needs in this population, as well as to promote consideration of adaptations to current practice that may improve quality of care. Reflection on identified challenges and dilemmas will be encouraged. |

10:25 | 11:10 | Autism and Eating Disorders: Implications for Services Charli Babb PHD Student Cardiff University My talk will be focused around our qualitative interview study, which helped us to gain an understanding of autistic women's experiences of eating disorder services from the perspectives of (1) autistic women with experience of anorexia, (2) parents of autistic women with experience of anorexia, and (3) healthcare professionals working in eating disorder services. I will outline the main themes from this study and draw particularly on the implications these results may have for eating disorder services. |

11:15 | 12:00 | Males get Eating Disorders too Mr. Ben Robinson Previous Inpatient CAMHS service user Ben's session will talk about how his eating disorder developed, leading him to be hospitalised on a general hospital ward, before being detained under the mental health act and receiving treatment in an inpatient unit for over a year, before transitioning into CAMHS outpatient treatment. Ben will speak about the difficulties he faced during this period of time and what did/didn’t help him and how he decided to take the road to recovery and what challenges he faced through that. |

- Potential Causing & Maintaining Factors Ms. Janina Brede PHD Student University College London Janina's talk will cover findings from a recent qualitative study exploring autistic women’s experience of AN based on the perspectives of 15 autistic women, 12 parents, and 16 professionals with relevant experience. She will also present a model of how restrictive eating difficulties might develop and maintain in autistic individuals, which was developed based on the findings from this qualitative study. |
