1:10 PM - 2:10 PM in The View

Facilitators: Kelly Reid (Robert Gordon University), Lizanne Hamilton-Smith (University of Highlands and Islands) and Gillian Morris (University of Dundee)

Purpose: This assembly provides opportunity for students to network and participate in discussion around the sustainability of future advanced practice from a global perspective.

The assembly will begin by providing  a brief overview of chapter 2 in the latest publication of the Advanced Practice in Nursing Series “Advanced Practice Nurse Networking to enhance Global Health” discussing APN role development in a selection of ICN member countries, report on the current state of advanced practice nursing globally, and conclude with reflections on the significance of advanced practice nursing and considerations for the future directions.

Student representatives from around the globe will then convene on our panel to discuss 5 key questions around the sustainability of advanced practice.

Objectives: To bring together the global student body and facilitate mutual learning

Method: In this dynamic panel discussion, student representatives from around the globe will come together to share insights and strategies around the sustainability of advanced practice. The panel aims to provide a platform for diverse voices, offering a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities faced by students in different cultural and educational contexts.

Results: Feedback, ideas and key takeaways during and after the session will be collated and categorised into themes, allowing participants to reflect upon the collective input to enhance their overall student assembly experience.

Conclusion: Overall, student discussions are a vital component of education that contribute to the intellectual and personal growth of students, preparing them for future challenges and opportunities.

Significance: This student assembly will foster a sense of community amongst advanced practice students whilst promoting active learning and enhancing critical thinking.
