UKIBCS invited abstracts in the following themes. We appreciate that your research may fall into more than one of these categories. Please choose the theme that best represents what your work is aiming to achieve.

The UKIBCS conference is a research conference, and abstracts are expected to show data (or, in the case of ongoing trials, describe and provide an update on a research trial in progress).

  • Preclinical research
  • Early breast cancer
  • Radiotherapy
  • Surgery
  • Pathology
  • Prevention/Lifestyle
  • Treatment/Novel agents
  • Metastatic breast cancer
  • Living with BC/QoL/Patient perspective/Supportive care
  • Genetics/Screening/Early detection
  • Trials in Progress
  • Other (free category)

A number of travel awards are available for early career researchers (any category) who do not have a permanent tenure track/faculty position or are established team leaders/senior clinicians. These will be awarded based on the quality of the abstract and the poster presented on the day. If you consider that you are eligible for an award, please submit your abstract through the ECR Submission portal. All other abstract submissions should use the General Submission portal.

Assessment of Abstracts

The abstracts will be reviewed by members of the UKIBCS organising committee and other breast cancer experts. They will be assessed on the following criteria:

  1. The impact of the research in increasing our understanding of breast cancer, preventing breast cancer, understanding the experience of those with breast cancer, or improving the treatment and care of those with breast cancer.
  2. The quality of the research, including the study design, the strength of the data, the validity of the conclusions and any innovation in the methodology.
  3. The novelty of the research, including whether it has previously been presented or published.
  4. The presentation of the abstract.
All successful presenters are required to provide a lay summary of their work as part of the poster.
