Abstract Submissions
Submissions are now open.
BASES invites abstracts in the following sport and exercise science-related themes.
1. Biomechanics and Motor Behaviour
2. Physical Activity for Health
3. Physiology and Nutrition
4. Psychology
5. Sport and Performance.

We acknowledge that we lack representation from various underrepresented groups and therefore strongly encourage abstract submissions that will amplify the voices of people with a disability, those from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds, women or gender diverse people in STEMM and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The deadline for all abstract submissions is
10.00am BST on Monday 12 June 2023and we invite the following presentation types:
- Free communication presentation
- Poster presentation
- 5 slides in 5 minutes free communication presentations
Journal of Sports Sciences
All accepted conference abstracts will be published in an online supplement of the Journal of Sports Sciences.
Free-access will be available upon publication of the supplement, until 31 December 2023. From 1 January 2024 onwards, BASES members can gain online access to the supplement, as well as the current volume of the Journal of Sports Sciences, by subscribing at the discounted rate of: £70 for regular member; and £29 for student members.
Conference Awards
The BASES Annual Conference awards seek to reward outstanding contributions to sport and exercise sciences by BASES members. Awards are presented for presentations (free communication and poster) in student and non-student categories.
All abstracts will be automatically considered for a relevant award. The Awards Panel will shortlist presentations for these awards based on the scientific merit of the abstracts.
Awards will be presented at the closing address of the Conference.
